May Stamp Club Projects

OK, I promised I would post directions for the projects for May's Stamp Club and I finally had time to do them! There are 4 projects and I am going to describe how we did each one below the picture.

This is the Father's Day Trifold card we made. There is a very good tutorial here by the very talented Beate Johns, it has all the dimensions and steps for construction of the card.
  • First step is to take an 8 1/2 x 11 piece if Blue Bayou (BB) paper and make it into 2-sided patterned paper. Use the Rough Texture jumbo wheel with Choc. Chip ink cartridge to cover one side.
  • Flip sheet of paper over and use BB ink with the medallion stamp to create a random pattern.
  • Then use Craft White ink with the paisley image filling in the larger spaces. You will then need to heat set the white with a heat gun so it won't smear, or you can let it sit for a few minutes.
  • Then use Close to Cocoa with one of the small images to fill in the remaining spaces to create a pleasing pattern.
  • Sponge BB and Close to Cocoa ink all over the paper to give it a distressed look.
  • Trim paper to 8 x 8 1/2"
  • Take cutting blade out of your paper trimmer and put the scoring blade in.
  • Put the longest edge of paper against your paper trimmer and score at 6 1/4" and 2 1/4"
  • Turn paper 90 degrees and score at 2 1/4"
  • With a scissor, trim 2 bottom corners of, using score lines as a guide.
  • Take a large dinner plate and center it over top edge. Then either trace with and pencil and cut with scissors, or with a self healing mat, use the cutting blade on the Cutter kit, use the plate as a guide to cut a curved edge.
  • Trace the curved edge on the Chocolate Chip and Whisper White, trim off.
  • Now take the cut and score piece of BB and fold at score lines, folding bottom edge up last. You may want to trim the bottom edges of the side flaps a little to make it fold in easier. then glue flaps done, creating a pocket for the insert to slide in to.
  • Cut a piece of the patterned paper to 2 x 3 1/2"
  • Distress edges of WW and BB pieces for insert and ink with Close to Cocoa. Glue to Choc Chip insert base.
  • Use the Rough Texture jumbo wheel with Creamy Caramel (CC) on CC strips
  • Use paper piercer and piercing guide to create faux stitching on edges of both CC strips.
  • Use Close to Cocoa marker to make stitch lines.
  • Distress CC strip edges.
  • Glue small strip over seam between WW and BB on insert.
  • Use Crop-A-Dile (CAD) to attach 2 eyelets to CC strip on insert.
  • Fold, slightly loosely, Chocolate chip strip around the pocket with over lap in the front about1 1/2"from the left edge. Repeat with the 1 1/2" wide strip of CC over the top of the Choc Chip strip. If you glue them together and then fold, the edges don't match well.
  • Now glue strips together and then glue to create the "belt".
  • Punch 2 small stars and a Round Tab punch from the BB patterned paper and ink edges with Close to Cocoa marker.
  • Punch a large star from Close To Cocoa paper . Ink with Rough Texture wheel and Close to Cocoa ink, and ink edges with Close to Cocoa marker.
  • Glue small star to center of large star and use CAD to attach an eyelet in the center.
  • Glue Large star over seam on the "belt" turning just right to completely cover the seam.
  • Fold the Round Tab punch in half, glue to top of insert, glue small star to center of Tab. Use CAD to attach an eyelet in the center of small star.

All done!

This is the 12 x 12" scrapbook page we did. Many of the steps below can be done in any order.

  • Use the Classic Stars JW with Versamark cartridge with the wheel guide to make 3 stripes of stars on Kraft paper.
  • Use Classic Stars JW with Versamark again and cove the Old Olive strip with stars.
  • Distress and ink edges with Close to Cocoa ink. Glue to left side of page approx 1/2" from left side and approx 3" from bottom.
  • Punch 3 large stars and 4 small stars from the leftover BB patterned paper from previous project. Punch 4 small stars each from Really Rust and Old Olive paper.
  • Use a stamp from Totally Tabs set to stamp with coordinating ink one each on Really Rust and Old Olive, then punch out with Round Tab punch.
  • Use the star and heart chipboard pieces to trace onto a piece of 2 sided patterned paper, then cut out, apply to chipboard pieces with glue stick and sand edges down with and emery board or sanding block. Ink edges with a marker in color of your choice.
  • Glue a large BB star onto the chipboard star.
  • Use CAD to put Jumbo eyelet into of chipboard star.
  • Cut a 1/2 x 2 1/2" strip of Kraft cardstock (CS), distress and ink edges with Really Rust.
  • Use Stamp-A-Ma-Jig stamp positioner to stamp the word DAD on Really Rust CS in Bayou Blue with an alphabet set on the oval, starting with the A in the center.
  • Use large oval to punch the DAD from Really Rust CS, ink edges with Really Rust.
  • Glue to the strip of Kraft CS, punch 1/16" holes in Kraft CS strip, one on each end.
  • Stamp All Star from Sporting set in Really Rust near top of Old Olive strip of CS.
  • Glue Dad title strip to Old Olive strip below ALL*STAR . Use paper piercer to poke hole through all layers then put brads through.
  • Punch Photo corners from Really Rust and Blue Bayou. Glue together and apply to page as pictured.
  • Finish by gluing accents as pictured or as desired.

This is a close up of some of the accents and the background.

Here is a cute little gift box idea I cased from Sara Gough at http://thinkingstamps.blogspot.com/search/label/Genuine%20Articles. I found a template for this fry box on the Stampin Up! demonstrator's site and traced it onto Creamy Caramel CS then cut them out.

  • Used the Canvas background stamp to stamp all over the box front and back.
  • Use Creamy Caramel ink and the mistletoe branch stamp from Peaceful Wishes set to stamp on front of box and back of box.
  • Stamp Genuine Article or Authentic stamp from Stamp of Authenticity set in Creamy caramel on inside top of box.
  • Ink all edges, front and back of paper, with Creamy Caramel
  • Fold at score lines and ink the outside edges.
  • Glue side edges together to form box.
  • Take 12" length of Choc Chip 1/4" polytwill ribbon and glue in 4 spots to box and tie at front.
  • Stamp Genuine Article stamp in CC on Very Vanilla paper, then punch out with 1" circle punch
  • Punch Creamy Caramel 1 1/4" circle and Close to Cocoa 1 3/8" circle. Glue these all together and stick to box front with a dimensional.
    Done!

This is the Graduation card we made with River Rock (RR) and Always Artichoke (AA) CS and AA ink. You will need:

  1. 6 x 6 1/2" RR, folded. Card front will be 3 x 6 1/2"
  2. 1/2 x 6 1/2" strip AA
  3. 1 x 6 1/2" strip AA
  4. 1 3/4" square RR
  5. 2" square AA
  6. Scrap of RR
  7. AA ink
  8. Great Grads stamp set
  • Mask top portion of card front and stamp the word block repeatedly across bottom.
  • Stamp GRAD in upper right of card front.
  • Ink edges of thin strip of AA with AA and glue at top edge of stamped word blocks.
  • Stamp G on the RR square, distress edges of AA square, and ink edges of RR and AA squares with AA. Glue together, then on to card front.
  • Use AA marker to ink 1 of the congratulations on the 3 congratulations stamp, stamp onto RR.
  • Use Word Window punch to punch out the congratulations. Ink with AA ink, and glue to AA strip on cardfront.

  • On wider strip of AA, stamp the Destiny stamp.
  • Glue to inside bottom of card on 3 outer edges, creating a pocket for cash, check, or gift card.

All Done!

Sorry ladies, I have been doing birthday party stuff, been sick, or been working for the last little over a week! I will try to post something in a few days. I think our next meeting will be on May 22nd at the Quilted Loon. We'll all pitch in $2.50 to cover the rental fee and Crystal will be the hostess, so will provide a little refreshment. I hope you all get to see this post! Let me know if this will work.
