Autmn Tea Lights

Well, here I go again with tea lights! I just love these little gifts so much :) For those who need it, here is the tutorial for this project. And they are safe to burn :)
I used the Rock and Roll technique for the leaves on the candles and Shimmer Paint all over the box. The bow is made out of Gold Waffle Paper cut into 1/2" wide strips. Very easy to cut with the paper trimmer and easy to work with. The bow maintains it fluffy shape too :) Now I wonder who I will give this to...

I made this at the same time as I made the Autumn Wreath which I am still absolutely in love with. I am thinking of decorating a big candle and using the wreath and candle as a centerpiece on my kitchen table. Anybody make a wreath? Rose Peacock Thank You Card

I don't know why I love these little 3x3 cards, but I find myself using them more and more :) I needed a quick Thank You card for someone who purchased some stuff from my retired stash and I made this is about 10 minutes! It is a retired stamp set, but I still love it. I inked the image with Daffodil Delight, then used markers to color as shown. Then a little 2-way glue pen and Fine Cosmo glitter in Rose Pink and the main image was done! I'm not sure what made me pick these colors, but I like how this turned out.

Janet's Projects

One of my Stamp Club ladies, Janet, told me about what she did with our club projects from July. She had needed something for a birthday party:
"For this birthday party for two friends, gifts were to be "creative" 
and not expensive.  The purse has two packs of gum for the chewer, 
and the bookmark adorns the corner of a thrift store book that she 
will love."
What a great use of these projects! Thank you Janet for sharing this with us! I am always excited to hear what wonderful things you all do with our projects! :)

GIfts for Teacher

I have some time off from my regular job this week so I have been playing with my stamps and stuff :) This gift set just sort of emerged for meas I was thinking about my youngest son returning to school and how I always want to do something for the teachers but end up having little or no time to do it. I started out making the tea light box, and it just sort of evolved form there. I was able to make everything for 2 sets with 1-1/2 sheets (8-1/2" x 11") each of Poppy Parade and Pear Pizazz and a few scraps of Whisper White!

That is the full sheet. Then you just cut another sheet into two 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" pieces, and that is for the Mini Milk Carton!

I will probably fill the carton with Runts or something fruity :) And did you notice the little tiny apple in the corner of the card? That is from a retired set called One Smart Cookie and it is perfect match to the apple in Tart & Tangy, so if you have this set, pull it out and refresh your memory! The Scallop Oval on the card has a couple of flat sides. That's what happens when your scrap isn't wide enough, but I think it looks good this way too :)

This is the Pear Pizazz version. I just love these colors! It sure didn't take me long to warm up to the new colors this year.

And the tea lights. Here is a link to the tutorial for those again. So do you think I should give these to the male teachers? Somehow I think they would like something else better, lol!

And the gift bags made out of brown paper lunch bags. I like the shorter version better. And the Twine Rope is currently available on the Clearance Rack for $2.99 for a 15 yd roll! I just happen to have a roll in my stash :) I dipped the ends in melted candle wax (from a tea light candle on my desk) to prevent the twine from unraveling while trying to thread it through the holes in the top of the bag.

ETA: OMgosh! I can't believe I forgot to add the recipe! And yes, it is safe to burn these candles, there is no flare in the flame from the tissue paper.

Autumn Wreath

Yesterday I went a little crazy and ordered a bunch of stuff out of the Holiday Mini And then I had it sent overnight delivery! I know, crazy right?! Well we are supposed to get up REALLY early tomorrow so we can leave by 5:00 am to go to Valley Fair and I wanted to get to bed early last night so I could get to sleep at a decent hour tonight. I could not fall asleep! I kept having visions of creations I wanted to make and I remembered seeing some willow wreaths for $1/each in 3 sizes (I'll let you guess where, wink, wink!) and I wanted to check online to see if they still carried them. I did end up sleeping before I usually do (remember that I work until midnight and have a 45 minute drive home normally) but I was still up until after 1:00 am! I then got up at 8:00am, showered, and ran right into town to grab some of those wreaths. I was hoping to make it back home before the UPS man arrived with my box of goodies since it was pouring rain and all of the boys/young men in my house were still sound asleep (all 4 of them!) Luckily I made it back before the UPS man, barely, and I have been playing with my new stuff off and on since then. I also made a pot of yummy chili since it hasn't made it out of the 50's today. Hello, Minnesota weather!

One of the visions keeping me awake last night was an Autumn wreath and I so LOVE how it turned out! This is a 9" wreath so it is not really big, but I took a long time putting it together as I putzed through it :) I first stamped both sides of  3 colors of card stock, applied shimmer paint to both sides also.

Then used the Big Shot to cut out and then emboss a bunch of leaves. I have enough leftover leaves to do several wreaths!

Then I didn't like the color of the wreath, too bright and pine colored. So I used Log Cabin Smooch Spritz on it. Still too light. I then took an empty Smooch Spritz container and filled it with 91% rubbing alcohol and 10 drops of Soft Suede reinker and sprayed it all over the wreath. That gave it a kind of oak finish. Perfect! (it took almost the whole little vial! It's a good thing rubbing alcohol is cheap!)

Next I cut into my brand new package of Autumn Spice Specialty DSP. Can I just say YUM! this paper is card stock weight, textured and patterned on both sides with beautiful prints!!! LOVE it! I made 3 rosettes from the Table settings die. I had to distress the paper a bit so it would be nice and flexible. Then I used Crystal Effects to apply some of the new Champagne Glass Glitter. Another new favorite! This stuff is a delight to work with and it is so beautiful! The Crystal Effects works really well with this glitter and there is no shedding :)

I even cut into my new roll of Gold Waffle paper. I have to say I was hesitant about this stuff. But it is really easy to work with and adds a lot to a project. I then started assembling my embellishments, and in the effort to stop hoarding all of the new embellishments (which I usually do until they retire!), I used the Antique Brads, Designer Buttons, and Big Designer Buttons, and the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon that I just got today also! Can I just say I am amazed at Stampin Up! They always come through with the best stuff!!!

I used the 2 way glue pen to apply the glitter on the title piece here, but i think if I had to do it again I would have used the Crystal Effects again. I just didn't want to wait for it to dry, lol. OK, here is the list of supplies:

And this is what it looks like as a whole. It was really hard to get a decent picture of the whole thing today. I'm not sure why. Just trust me when I say this is so much better in real life!

Hearts gift bag

 

 SO, on the last blog hop I had posted these bags that I made using simple lunch bags that you can buy like 100 for $1.50. I posted a close up of the L is for Love bag, but I thought you might like to see this one more up close. I again used the circle that was die cut out of the LOVE stamp to make the polka dots on the bag. The little extra details on this bag are the Heart Small punch on the folded-over edge, and the ribbon tied through the top. I punched the heart out of the bag, then glued a Riding Hood Red heart behind both holes and stuck a little rhinestone on the heart that was showing when folded. I then took my Crop-A-Dile and punched 2 holes to tie the ribbon through.
