There are 15 decorated tea lights here. They are the inexpensive ones from Walmart, 50/$2.50
They burn quite nicely too. I know there are lots of people out there very worried about the super thin little layer of tissue paper on these candles that could potentially burn down your house, but really. Come on. Unless you are burning this candle near something else flammable, like right next to a curtain or something, it will be just fine! There is a split second like flash that does not FLARE when the flame hits it and that is it. So, don't burn these near anything flammable, ok :-) Now that I am done with my soapbox, on to the fun of the project!
- Punch out your 1-3/8" circles of tissue paper- sandwich 4 layers of tissue paper between 2 layers of copy paper to punch them out so the punch has something sturdy to bite into.
- Keep your sandwich together and punch a 1/16" hole in the center for the wick to slide through.
- Stamp your image on the tissue paper.
- Slide the stamped circle over the wick and heat with a heat gun until melted into the top of the tealight. All done!
- Stamps: Northern Hearts
- Paper: Tissue paper
- Ink: Marina Mist
- Other: 1-3/8" Circle punch, 1/16" punch, heat gun, tealights
Oh my goodness, Tanya, I can hardly wait to see the rest of this one. . . .
ReplyDeleteCool project. I need to get me some of those tea lights. Love the tip of punching several at once and then keeping them ready for use!
ReplyDeleteHey Tanya,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know the theme challenge at Friday Mashup! for this coming Friday is SNOWMAN. Just make a project using a snowman. Send it to: fridaymashup@hotmail.com or ericandterry@comcast.net.
Thanks,
Terry
I want you to know that I bought a bunch of tea lights because of you and your projects. Your amazingly awesome fabulous projects!
ReplyDeleteOh geez, Tanya, thanks a bunch! I've never found a need for the big snowflake die until I spied it in this post as the tealight holder. Dang it, something else to buy!! Seriously, though - love the snowflakes in Marina Mist (my fave new color) and punching a bunch of the tissue paper and keeping it in a matchbox is just too cool of an idea!!
ReplyDeleteI finally made some of these this weekend - super easy! I think they will have a future spot at my stamp club. Can't wait to see the rest of the ensemble!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Tanya!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Yapha....so did I! Tanya, you had to go and use that die, didn't you? *sigh* One more "must have" item for my list!
