Melon Mambo Cakes!

I actually set out to do a challenge yesterday and got it done! I have been wanting to ink up the Birthday Bakery set that I got recently and this was the perfect color challenge to get it done :-)

I've submitted entries to this site before, but usually it was stuff I had already made that matched the challenge. They have some fun ones there, you can see for yourself :)

It may not look it, but this is Melon Mambo. Oh the challenges of photography after dark! I just could not get the color to correct with my photo software, sigh....BUT I love how this turned out! Into my stash this will go until I need a birthday card for a lady who likes a little glamour :) You can't see it really well in this photo, but I stamped the bakery goods in Frost White Shimmer Paint all over the Melon Mambo card front. It shows up very well in real life. And my Dotted Ribbon punch got some love again finally! I have been using the Tasteful Trims die so much, I totally forget about this punch! Some Raven lace trim and rhinestones, black jewels, and pearls really add some dazzle. The cake stands are all colored whit Platinum Shimmer Paint with an Aqua-painter.

Inside I didn't use all the gems so it would close nicely :-) White gel pen dots work well instead! I sure have been doing a lot of coloring lately...
  • Stamps: Birthday Bakery
  • Paper: Melon Mambo, Basic Gray, Basic Black, watercolor, Very Vanilla
  • Ink: Melon Mambo, Jet Black Stazon, Crumb Cake
  • Other: Dotted Ribbon punch, Raven lace trim, Black Flourish Designer Jewels, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Pearls Basic Jewels, Aqua-painter, Blender pen, Signo white gel pen, Stampin' Dimensionals, Platinum and Frost White Shimmer Painet, Sponge Dauber
This photo shows the Frost White Shimmer Paint the best. So what do you think? Enough stuff on it ?  ;-)

  2. Awesome job at using the colors... This set is really cute! Don't you hate it when you need to take a photo when it's dark.. Mine was the same way.. My Melon looked a bit darker..

Thanks for playing along with the Challenge!

  5. I really like this card, no matter what color it is! The lace is unexpected -- very cool!

BTW, I really like the way you start your posts with a banner-type image of the project to come.
