If you are following along in order, then you just arrived from Deb Currier's blog. I hope you left her lots of love, as this is her last hop with us. We will miss you Deb!!
I thought I would start with a thank you card. It is certainly that time of year :)
I actually made the flower a few weeks ago and it sat on my desk awaiting further inspiration. I had heat embossed the peony with White embossing powder on watercolor paper. Then I filled the petals with watery Calypso Coral, then dropped in some Watermelon Wonder in the wet Calypso Coral and let the blending do its thing! I fussy cut the peony and left it lay.
Then, tonight, the clock ticking with midnight approaching, inspiration finally came. I stitched a 4"x5¼" panel of the Gold Fancy Vellum to a 3¾"x5" panel of Whisper white. Yes, the white panel is smaller and underneath the vellum, which works beautifully with vellum :) Then I glued it to the card base, then flower on top that, then die cut the thanks out of gold glimmer paper and used the Fine Tip glue to adhere that last!
Look at that shimmer and shine!! I think this is one of my rare "simple" cards ;)
Inside, just a little outlining (you knew that was coming from me, lol), and stamping to finish it off. The sentiment is from Something to Say.
This card is a large card, 5½"x7½", another one for someone who really enjoys a big card, or to give from a large group of people where you need lots of room to sign :) I will whip up a special envelope for it later.
I took a 4½"x6½" panel of watercolor paper (it was Canson 9"x12" cut down since the SU paper is only 6" on the longest side). I heat embossed the peony around the center again, then dropped Sahara Sand, Blushing Bride, and Cherry Cobbler in layers into the petals. I used Wild Wasabi to the leaves and stems, and it seemed there was not enough green in it, so I painted on a few of my own leaves! It was easy, believe me :) After that was dry, I applied what I initially thought was the Clear Wink of Stella glitter brush, but was really a white one-oops! The only flower that mattered on was the Cherry Cobbler, but I think I like it anyway :)
I heat embossed the sentiment in Gold embossing powder on the SAB item, Botanical Gardens vellum stack. That strip is 2"x4½". This was then stitched onto the watercolor panel.
Then I glued it to the 5"x7" Sahara panel, then glued that to the card base.
Look at that shimmer! ANd I like the wash of white on the rich red peonies.
OK, one more shot of the watercoloring.Yes, I am loving this. I think I will be making a coulple more of these to keep in the stash for work!
Inside, I stamped the peony in Sahara Sand and used the Aquapainter to dab in some color, then the Clear Winke of Stella glitter brush. And then more Gold embossing on the Botanical Gardens vellum. As much as I love the front of this card, I am not thrilled with the inside. Oh, well. They can't all be winners.
That's all for me, so now it's time to go check out what Dawn Tidd has whipped up for us!

The birthday card has a breathtaking chinoiserie effect, but both cards are beautiful examples of what I think is reinker float. So lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection of cards. The birthday one is my absolute favorite though. Simply gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteWhoop's, had signed in and commented under the husband above..:0)
I love how you dropped different colors onto your flower and let the coloring happen organically. Very nice! I am in love with your first layout -- vellum larger than the underlayer. Gonna try that!
