What to Make When You Hibernate: Let's Get Silly!

Hey, friends! We are back with another hop to keep you motivated, or  at least entertained, during these cold winter months. The theme this week is sort of April Fool's day. I don't know about you, but I don't really send cards out for this holiday. But I do like silly cards, so that is where we went with this.

Look at all the silliness! I love it!!

A crafty friend gifted this set from Picket Fence Studios: Schools of Fish, and I have been itching to use it! I  am also setting sail on a Caribbean cruise when this post goes live, so I have Ocean on the brain, lol!

I started by taping a 5x7 piece of watercolor down to a board, then used  Daniel Smith watercolors to paint the watery background. And I don't have time for air drying, so the  heat gun came to the rescue!

Next, I stamped the coral with various colors of Distress Oxides, then the fish in Versafine Onyx Black, and heat embossed with White Satin Pearl. None of the inks looked wet when I dumped the embossing powder on the panel, but they sure were! Seriously, that embossing  powder has magical powers.

The fish were also painted with watercolors.

The sentiment strip is a scrap of white cardstock I covered with Hero Arts White Glimmer ink diluted a bit with water and just painted on with a flat brush, then dried with a heat tool. The sentiment is Clear heat embossed over Versafine ink.

I love how the watercolors painted so easily over each other without becoming muddy or reactivating the color beneath the new color.  And I cannot wait to go snorkeling very soon!!

Yesterday I posted the sweet version of this card. But I cheated with that version, I did not actually adhere the Thank You sentiment, because I wanted to make this a card for work, and I wanted to use this awesome sentiment that is also from Picket Fence Studios: Natural State of Sarcasm

I did make a few more fun, silly, sarcastic cards. But I am saving those for another day :) Turns out, I have a ton of "Mature Language" sets that need to see some use soon!

Head on over to the rest of the stops, you won't want to miss any of them!
