Stamp Review Crew: Sweet Stack Edition

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2016/12/sweet-stack-edition.html
Who likes cake? Me! And who likes pie? Me again!! (I prefer pie to be honest, it's all the fruit) And how about cute little slice boxes?! Oh, yes please. We are featuring the Sweet Stack stamp set, and it coordinates with the aptly named Cutie Pie box framelits. I can't wait to see all the goodies the Crew comes up with this time!

For those who are new to the Stamp Review Crew, here is a little background. We are an international group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that gets together on the first and third Mondays of every month to do a blog hop. Each hop features a single stamp set to give you loads of inspiration for that set! The hops are archived at the Stamp Review Crew blog, and you will be able to click through each hop at any time, going directly to the posts for that hop whenever you want! And you can click on the banner of this post to go to the master blog roll for this hop also.

If you are following along in order, then you have just arrived from Mike Funk's blog. Amazing, right?!

Time to see what I have done with this set :)

OK, you knew I was going to do something watercolor with this, right? I used a panel of watercolor paper, embossed the image in Gold embossing powder, then used an Aquapainter to color each triangle. Then I dry embossed the bottom of it. Stitched around the edges (cuz it wouldn't be me if I didn't!), and popped it up on dimensionals on a Thick Whisper White card base, Easy Peasy!

Can you see the dry embossing better now? For the watercoloring, I did lay down some water in each trianle first, then dropped color into the tips and worked out to get the gradient effect. And I got a little outside the lines, but I am not gonna sweat it! It's hand-made, right?!

Inside has a sentiment from Happy Happenings, and then stamped off the colors from the front with the streamers image. I think this turned out good enough to be a card FRONT!

Here is a little slice of cake with some sprinkles on top! The sequins are from the June Paper Pumpkin. There were a ton of sequins in that kit! I used some cello bag material to create the sandwiched window for the sequins, and I did not even cut it out special. I glued it down to cardstock with Fast Fuse, trimmed of the extra, added more Fast Fuse, put a few sequins down, then added another layer of cello material down and trimmed it off. The sequins even shake around a little in the sandwich!

That's all I have for you! Are you ready to go see what Sue Plote has made? I know I am!!

Stamp Review Crew: Christmas Pines Edition

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2016/12/christmas-pines-edition.html
Ah, December! A month full of family, food, and frivolity! Or extra work for moms everywhere :) But we love it! I can smell the fresh pine boughs and the crisp air from a fresh snow now! We are featuring Christmas Pines this time, and it has a coordinating set of thinlits, and I am sure that each works well without the other. But they do compliment each other so well, you are sure to want them both. At least you will after we are done with you, lol!

If you are following along in order, then you just arrived from Mike Funke's blog. He always finds some unique twist with a stamp set!

I know that we have all seen lots of cards with sprays of pine branches, but this one has a little something extra. I stamped the boughs in Emerald Envy on the Crumb Cake panel, then the highlights for the boughs in Versamark, then heat embossed with the Emerald Envy Glitter embossing powder. I am telling you, that stuff is gorgeous!!

Just look at that shimmer and shine! You can see the lovely stitching details on the squares from the Stitched Shapes framelits. (They should be back in stock mid-January) Do you like the Vellum pine bough? Adds a nice details I think 😁

The inside is finished off with another bough in Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron. And the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler.

This card features a technique that is highlighted in the new Occasions mini. The pine boughs ore debossed, and then the solid pine cone image is stamped in Mint Macaron full strength and stamped off a few times all over to "reveal" the pine bough debossing. This was done on watercolor paper for a couple of reasons. The paper is heavy enough to handle to extra abuse, and I could spritz it with a little water 👍

I also embossed the pin boughs on the Crumb Cake panel, twice! Yes, it got a little flattened in the middle with the second run through the Big Shot, but the watercolor panel covered that. The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede.

And some more finishing stamping inside! Mint Macaron, full strength and stamped off once, Crumb Cake same thing, and Soft Suede.

This is the last one! I know, I get carried away sometimes 😊I have a pile of tags that I made from scraps on my desk just waiting to be used. I was playing with pinecone color combos, and stumbled on this idea. There are three different color pinecones here, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, and Early Espresso, all heat embossed with Copper embossing powder on each color cardstock. Then they were cut out using the coordinating dies. Layered up with boughs, branches, and berries, and stamped the greeting in Early Espresso. Presto-bango, done! (I will stamp to: from: on the back later. I forgot before I took the pictures...)

All of the supplies I used are listed at the bottom of this post. I hope I have convinced you this is a must-have stamp set! And I barely scratched the surface of the ideas I have for this set! If only I had the time to get all of those ideas made before Christmas....

Hiedi Baks is the next stop on this hop, and she is sure to have a wonderful project or two for you!
