Valentine Countdown #10: Greatest Adventure

And here we are, the last of my Valentine Countdown projects. This one is for my fella :) For those of us with a manly counterpart, it can be a bit difficult to make a card with a masculine slant and have it still be a valentine. Hopefully I have shown you a few ways to accomplish this!

I used a Mojo Monday sketch for this card and I think it achieved an interesting look. It did get manly approval too :)

I started with a piece of watercolor paper and made a couple areas of cherry cobbler wash with an Aquapainter. Then I added some Crumb Cake to one of then, and layered on the 2 colors, drying with a heat tool between layers. On the other area, I spattered some Cherry Cobbler on. After these were very dry, I heat stamped the images with Versafine Onyx Black ink, sprinkled with Clear embossing powder, and heated with a heat tool
I dug out my MFT Stitched Circle dies and cut the 2 images out, both with the same sized circle.
I then cut a piece of DSP to 3¾"x5" and embossed with Happy Hearts, then sanded the raised areas a bit. Matted this on a 4"x5¼" Cherry Cobbler panel and stitched it down. Applied dimensionals to the back of the panel and adhered to a PTI Vintage Cream card base.
Take a ¼" scrap of vellum, stamp XOXO in Cherry Cobbler, sprinkle with clear embossing powder, and heat. Dovetail one end.
Apply dimensionals to the back of the globe circle and adhere to upper left of the card.
Apply Tear and Tape to the back of the heart circle and adhere to the lower right of the card, trimming off the over hang. Tuck the vellum sentiment under the circle while adhering.
Stick a black Candy Dot on the heart circle like it is holding the vellum tag.
Take a ¼" scrap of the DSP and glued it inside the card. Then I stamped the XOXO and hearts just above the DSP, used a blender pen and Cherry Cobbler ink to color the hearts.
All done!

Cute-ish, right! Now I need to think of what I am going to write in there!!

Valentine Countdown #9: Awesome You!

I think that Valentine's Day can be a great time to let some wonderful people in your life know just how much you appreciate them. So, gushy lovey-dovey stuff aside, here is a card to give to a dear friend, teacher, coach, or family member.

This also happens to be a card I made for a swap I was in recently, so it filled a double duty :) It uses two of the current Sale-A-Bration items you can earn right now. The Botanicals For You stamp set and the Botanical Gardens vellum stack!

Here is how I made this card:

Cut a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock to 4"x5¼", then emboss with the Fluttering embossing folder. Cut a piece of Pretty Petals DSP to 2"x5¼" and adhere to the left side of the embossed panel. Outline with Signo whtie gel pen, adhere panel to a Thick Whisper White card base.
Cut a piece of Whisper White scrap to 2¼"x3½", then round the corners. Cut a piece of Botanical Gardens vellum to 2¾"x4" and round the corners. Wipe vellum with embossing buddy, then stamp the "Just for you" with Versamark. Sprinkle the top part of the sentiment with Silver embossing powder and tap off excess. Then sprinkle the rest of the sentiment with Gold embossing powder and tap off the excess. Heat with heat tool until melted. Put adhesive behind the embossed sentiment and adhere to the white panel. Apply dimensionals to the back of the white panel and adhere to the card front.
Inside, stamp the sentiment in Archival Black ink, then stamp the flower in Calypso Coral centered beneath the sentiment. Stamp the leaves in Mossy Meadow on each side of the flower.
All Done!

I love the way the embossed colors flow together!

Valentine Countdown #8: For the Love of Rainbows

I am in the mood for a rainbow. Rainbows make me happy :) When I saw the the Over the Rainbow set in the Annual Catalog, I knew it needed to come home to momma! And yet, this is the first thing I have made with this set.

This card is full of vibrant color and is all shimmery from the Pearlized Water I used to wet the watercolor paper. It came together very quickly, and I am feeling the urge to make it again, lol! Here is how I made this card:

Cut a piece of watercolor paper to 4"x5¼". Take the Happy Heart embossing folder, open it up. Now, there are a few ways to apply the ink to the embossing folder. I happen to have all of the ink colors in the ink spot sizes, so I used those to rub the ink onto the folder. You can also use markers, sponges, or daubers to apply the ink. Just apply strips of color over the side with the Sizzixx insignia on it. Then spritz the watercolor with about 3-5 pumps with the spritzer filled with either plain water or Pearlized Water. Lay the wet watercolor paper wet side down onto the inked part of the embossing folder, close the folder, then run it through your die cutting machine. Allow to air dry, or speed it up with your heat tool. Stitch around the edges with a sewing machine. Apply foam tape or a bunch of dimensionals to the back and adhere to a Thick Whisper White card front.
Punch a heart out of thick Whisper White card stock. Take a scrap of vellum at least 2½" square, wipe with an embossing buddy, and stamp with the sentiment in Versamark. Sprinkle with Gold embossing powder, heat with heat tool until the embossing powder has all melted and turned shiny. Use the heart framelit from the Mini Treat Bag dies to cut the sentiment out. Lay over the white heart you punched earlier and stitch a line just under the first line of the sentiment to hold the hearts together. Apply dimensionals to the back of the white heart.
Unwind several inches of the Gold thread and wrap it around 3-4 of your fingers to create a tangle. Peel the backing of the dimensionals on the heart and stick the thread to them, arranging as desired. Stick this all to the card front.
On the inside of the card, stamp the big outlined word "Rainbow", then color in with an Aqua-painter or a blender pen with all of the colors used on the front panel.
All done!

You can see the dimension and the gold thread better from this angle. I did take these pictures outside, but it was too cold and windy to do this in the winter! I am glad that my frozen fingers were worth how these pictures turned out anyway :)

The cardstock did warp a little bit from the use of the Aqua-painter, so if that would bother you, then I would use a blender pen.
