Stamp Review Crew: Spooky Cat

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2017/08/window-shopping.html
Happy mid-October everybody!! You know we just had a Friday the 13th, in October, right? How perfectly appropriate for the Spooky Cat stamp set! I really couldn't resist 😁 I am sure there will be plenty of Halloween themed projects in this hop, and several that are outside that box. The Stamp Review Crew is here to help you get the most out of your stamps.

For those who are new to the Stamp Review Crew, here is a little background. We are an international group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that gets together on the first and third Mondays of every month to do a blog hop. Each hop features a single stamp set to give you loads of inspiration for that set! The hops are archived at the Stamp Review Crew blog, and you will be able to click through each hop at any time, going directly to the posts for that hop whenever you want! And you can click on the banner of this post to go to the master blog roll for this hop also.

If you are following along in order, you just arrived from Charlet Mallett's blog. I am in awe of her skills!

On most hops, I try to come up with slightly unconventional uses for stamp sets. But this time, I felt compelled to come up with a bunch of treat holder ideas.

These were the first projects I made with this suite. The Spooky Night DSP has a pattern that will cut out 16 of these moonlit scenes. And that owl stamps on it perfectly! With the Woodland embossing folder addin to the spooky background, and some black rhinestones to make the eyes shine, who wouldn't love getting a treat with this?! I used a lunch bag, a CD envelope, and a card base, all with the same layout.

Then I decided to use all of the 3D dies that are current, and finally made one of these sweet Window Boxes. Why was I so slow to make one of these?! They are awesome!! I love the lacy texture the window die for the top of the box adds. I was also a bit surprised at how sturdy this box feels.

Clear embossing on the black cardstock adds the perfect spooky touch.

The Wooden Crate in black with a simple Pretty Label punch will make a quick and easy to fill treat holder.
And the Popcorn Box die takes 2 passes to create the box, box only one to create a pocket. A small treat will fit in these perfectly. One of these is embossed with the Woodland embossing folder, uses the Classic Label punch in black cardstock with Clear Wink of Stella applied, layered under a Layering Oval. I love that this sentiment is in 2 pieces, and that there are actually 2 phrases that fit in the center. This makes it super easy to use 2 colors!

The other is stamped all over with the witch hat, then Clear Wink of Stella was applied over each of the hats to give it some shimmer.

Last up, I made some of the self-closing boxes that I so enjoy making. The one on the left has little rats Clear heat embossed directly on the box, and the Clear heat embossed and punched out cat popped up on dimensionals. The one on the right uses the Spooky Nights DSP.

Now it is time to head over to Sue Plote's blog, and I am sure that you will find heaps of inspiration there also!

Oh, Tanya! You are so creative! It's always a treat to visit your blog, and see what design tricks you have in store for us. I LOVE the self-closing bags you have created. If rats can be cute, these embossed ones certainly are. Great projects!!!
