Merry Patterns: Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Wow, a third hop for the month of August! How awesome is that?! We are back to feature a really special set, Merry Patterns. This stamp set is an added bonus to hosts who have an order totaling $300 USD in the months of September and October! That means you will get this awesome stamp set AND the sweet Stampin' Rewards for that level of sales! I love this set. I have just begun to play with it, and I am sure that there will be oodles of ideas for you in this hop. Here is a look at the set:

For those who are new to the Artisan Design Team, here is a little background. We are a group of 20 Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the globe, handpicked by Stampin' Up! to bring you inspiration and projects with the latest and greatest supplies.

If you are following along in order, then you just arrived from Sylwia Schreck's blog. She dazzles me every time with her creativity. 😍

For my first project, I combined the Be Merry DSP and the Pretty Pines thinlits from the Annual catalog to create this very textural card. I used Wild Wasabi and Berry Burst cardstock to create the berry branches and pine boughs that are peaking out of the white triangular panel. I did pull out my MISTI to do the gradient stamping on the "season" stamp, as I wanted very solid inking. I did 2 impressions, inking up first with Wild Wasabi, then sponging on Garden Green on the bottom portion each time. Then, I had much more success freehand stamping the outline, using the centers of the letters to line it all up. And Copper heat embossing the outline image.

This one is a simpler version of the first one. To create those triangular panels, I took a 4¼"x5½" panel of Thick Whisper White and cut it from corner to corner. Then I put one of the triangles in the MISTI, lined up the "season" stamp where I wanted it, and stamped several of these panels in a few color combinations. it was pretty slick, if I do say so myself!
This one uses Berry Burst and Fresh Fig. Very rich and elegant, I think. There is a vellum mat behind the white panel, and the embossing is done with the Holly embossing folder.

Last up, I could not resist combining this set with the Merry Cafe set, and the pumpkin spice everything sentiment! I am actually thinking about making some pumpkin spice yogurt right now! August has taken a bit of a nippy turn for us here in northern Minnesota already! I love autumn, but I was not really quite ready for it to arrive. I hope we get a few more weeks of toasty warm sunshine. 😏
I made a Pumpkin Pie and Peekaboo Peach watercolor wash on watercolor paper. Then I added a little DSP from Coffee Break DSP, and cut a lovely scallop using a die from the Popcorn Box thinlits. Did you know there was a small-ish scallop in that set? And there is a large scallop in the Seasonal Layers die set!

That is all I have for you this time! And if you started with Allison, then I am the last stop, and I hope we have shared loads of inspiration with you. If you haven't been to Allison's blog yet, please keep going! She is sure to amaze you!

Stamp Review Crew: Window Shopping

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2017/08/window-shopping.html
And the Crew is back with another hop! This time we are featuring the Window Shopping stamp set. It works very well all by itself, but it also has a coordinating die set that creates a sweet hexagon box! I love bags and boxes, but I chose not to use the dies this time. Primarily because I created this project in a rush before flying out the door for a surprise visit to my daughter. She live 4 hours away, and I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible 😀

For those who are new to the Stamp Review Crew, here is a little background. We are an international group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that gets together on the first and third Mondays of every month to do a blog hop. Each hop features a single stamp set to give you loads of inspiration for that set! The hops are archived at the Stamp Review Crew blog, and you will be able to click through each hop at any time, going directly to the posts for that hop whenever you want! And you can click on the banner of this post to go to the master blog roll for this hop also.

If you are following along in order, you just arrived from Bronwyn Eastley's blog. I am in awe of her skills!

I needed to play with ink blending again. And I wanted to use a fun embossing folder as I planned to stamp the tiny cupcake on some of the details. So, here goes!
  1. Cut a piece of watercolor paper to 3¾"x5".
  2. Open the Hexagons dynamic embossing folder. Apply ink to the embossing folder by pouncing an inked sponge on the slightly smaller side of the folder. Use Sweet Sugarplum at the top, Berry Burst in the middle, and Fresh Fig at the bottom.
  3. Spritz the Watercolor panel lightly with water, then lay it spritzed side down onto the inked part of the folder. Run through the Big Shot. Allow to air dry, or heat set as it will be slightly wet yet.
  4. Stamp the tiny cupcake in the same inks in random hexagons.
  5. Take a scrap of Vellum at least 3½"x3", wipe with Embossing Buddy, and stamp the Happy Birthday in Versamark. Sprinkle with Copper embossing powder, tap off the excess, and heat set.
  6. Cut the birthday greeting out with the Layering Ovals dies. Stitch to the card front. Or use your favorite way to adhere vellum to cardstock.
  7. Adhere the finished panel to a Crumb Cake card base.
  8. Inside, stamp 3 cupcakes, on in each color. Then stamp "make a wish" in Early Espresso just above the cupcakes.
  9. Done!

See all of that great color wash variation?! And it is so easy! It really accentuates the dimension that you achieve with these embossing folders.

And there are the sweet little cupcakes. I could have been a little straighter. But these are handmade, so I think it is OK 😁

And now, Juana Ambida!! Love her stuff as well. So very many talented stampers on these hops :)
