Crafty Christmas Club: May

I want you all to know just how much I love you all. I made this card an hour before this post went live. After working my 5th 12 hour shift. And I have to work in the morning. But I wouldn't want to miss a Christmas hop!

I  pulled this adorable little reindeer from my stash of stamped and colored images. When I first got my Copics, I was coloring all kinds of images to practice. And to use later. He came in handy! As did  the heart he is holding,

Then I grabbed the Christmas Cottage stamps and dies from Concord and 9th, stamped and die cut the layers of this 3D card.
And added some White Puff embossing powder from Hero Arts MMH to the trees and snow drifts.

And there is my 20 minute quickie Christmas card!! I hope you like it.
ANd that you had a marvelous Memorial Day!

Don't miss any of the other fantastic projects from the rest of the Crafty Friends! We have more new friends joining us this time. I love new friends :)

Spring Celebrations: Father's Day

Hey Festival Friends!! This past Christmas, I decided to invite some crafty friends to join me in a Festival of Christmas with a themed limited run series of social media hops. It was so fun that we decided to do more limited run series!

And it is time for another one: Spring Celebrations. There are five episodes in this series, and this one focuses on Father's Day!

Oh, I can just see the Dad jokes coming on!! Let's bring some smiles to the Big Guys in our lives. All male role models need this, and so do we!

I have been really enjoying shopping my stash. And since I am not a minimalist, and have been building my stash since 2006, my "store" has a pretty big variety!

Today, I am using a mash up of Picket Fence Studio, Lawn Fawn, and Hero Arts.

This is a Reveal Wheel card, it couldn't tell. The sentiments are:
  • The Best
  • A Rockstar
  • My Hero
  • So Loved
The little fish are heat embossed with Hero Arts Sparkling Sea. I love how this  embossing  powder  works in solid images!
The rest of the hop participants are listed and linked at the bottom of this post.

Crafty Friends: Honey Bee Stamps

May 20th already?! How did that happen? Well, you know what that means. It is time for another Crafty Friends blog hop. The very best kind of blog hop, it has a coupon code!! Every month, on the 20th, this group of Crafty Friends gets together and features project from a specific craft company. And we partner with that company to give you a discount for 2 days only. Which only seems fair, since we make you want to go shopping 😉

https://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=965221&u=1696562&m=69907

This month, we are featuring Honey Bee Stamps. There are things in my craft room that never really get put away. And some of those things are Honey Bee.

Here are some of my favorites:

http://shrsl.com/29s5w

http://shrsl.com/29s63

http://shrsl.com/29s66

http://shrsl.com/29s6e

And it just so happens that I use almost all of these on my project!

I am calling this Rainbow Flaming Coffee. I know, what?! See, this is what happens sometimes when you decide to only use what  you have from one company. I have zero image sets from Honey Bee Stamps. Why? I dunno. They have great images, too!

I do, however, have a Flames stencil. Love that. Used it several times already. I a m wondering what I did with the positive portion of stencil though. Hmmm. I think I will hunt for it when  I finish this post. And before you get all judgey, my craft room is really organized. So there!!

I actually created a video for this card. It has been months since I made time to do a video! And I am struggling with my technology again, so don't expect another video in the very near future. My transfer device from my ohone to my computer crapped out right after I loaded this video, and replacements are ordered. But wonted be here until nearly June. With Amazon Prime. Can  I just say THANK YOU to all of the people working so hard in supplies chains everywhere.

The sentiments are from the Perfect Blend stamp set with coordinating dies, which are beautiful!!

I struggled with the background. I really wanted to do some White Satin Pearl heat embossed images, bit didn't think of a way to do it. So, Rainbow Flames.

OK, the inside of this card took a  funny turn. Don't ask me why I do goofy things sometimes. I just do. I made a rainbow of coffee beans down the right side of the card. It reminds me of leopard spots. or M and M's! Mmmmm, chocolate.

Let me know what you think. Have I gone off the rails with this one?!

Spring Celebrations: Graduation, Weddings, and Babies

Hey Festival Friends!! This past Christmas, I decided to invite some crafty friends to join me in a Festival of Christmas with a themed limited run series of social media hops. It was so fun that we decided to do more limited run series!

And it is time for another one: Spring Celebrations. There are five episodes in this series, and this one focuses on Graduations, Weddings, and Babies.  In other words, Transitions!

This year, things are being done a little differently. But life finds a way, and prevails! Let's spread focus on these hopeful and joyous celebrations of life.

Simon Says Stamp came out with a new set of stencil, and I just had to play with them.

I started by ink blending Distress Oxides in Tumbled Glass, Squeezed Lemonade, and Worn Lipstick with the balloons stencil.

Then I took the confetti stencil and used a teeny tiny blender brush to add Gold Encore ink.

The last layer uses Black Ice Deco Foil Metallix Gel with the graduation hats stencil.

Ohh, shiny! Look at those hats! I have been really enjoying digging through my stash and using some older products. The sentiment on this card is from Papertrey Ink's Keep It Simple: Graduation stamp set. I don't think is is available anymore.

Inside, I also stenciled the balloons, and added a sentiment from another Papertrey Ink stamp set, this time the Tucked In: Congratulations set.

That's all I have today, be sure to check out all the other projects!

Spring Celebrations: Teacher Appreciation

Hey Festival Friends!! This past Christmas, I decided to invite some crafty friends to join me in a Festival of Christmas with a themed limited run series of social media hops. It was so fun that we decided to do more limited run series!

And it is time for another one: Spring Celebrations. There are five episodes in this series, and this one focuses on Teacher Appreciation. OK, true confession time here. When I was creating the schedule for this series of hops, I did not realize that Teachers Day is actually May 5th this year! Shame on me, right?! But it is absolutely not too late to give those special people a thank you. Just sayin'.

Not just teachers, but bus drivers, paras, coaches, lunch staff, janitors, and anyone who helps in your child's care and education! Let's give them some love (and maybe money, lol!) I know you have a new found appreciation of everything they do now that you have been homeschooling your kids for the last few weeks 😁

I was just not feeling inspired yesterday when I finally got around to working on this project. I wandered around my craft room, reorganized some stuff, played with some other stuff, and just generally procrastinated.

http://shrsl.com/29rek

Then I picked up the Spellbinders August 2019 Large Die of the Month set. It makes a clipboard shaped card and some other office supplies.  I thought "Hmm, clipboards are teacher-ish".  FYI: Here is a great video showing how to use this die set: https://youtu.be/kUHqBOO8Wc0

After I had the clipboard diecut, I found a scrap of kraft cardstock that I had smeared some leftover Gina K Wild Lilac Glimmer paste on a while back. I didn't want to use my metallic paper (I'm hoarding it-don't judge!), so I was digging through my scrap bin.

So, now I needed to go with a purple theme.

After digging through my stash for something teacher themed, I found the Kindred Stamps Masters of Magic stamp set. All of these sentiments and images are from that stamp set. And bonus- I already had this magical headmaster watercolored and cut out!

Look at the shimmer on the clip. And the dimension! That die set is full of special details, and is super easy to use.

The magical swirls are heat embossed with White Satin Pearl embossing powder.

This sentiment is from Trinity Stamps Magical Sentiments, and I used some sparkly purple embossing powder from my stash. I believe it is from a My Monthly Hero kit.

Wow, I really had fun shopping my stash! What are you going to come up with? Be sure to share your creations with us by using the #craftyfestivalfriends hashtag wherever you share on social media!

The rest of the blog roll is at the end of this post. Have a great weekend, and come back next Friday!

Creating Kindness: Animals

The Creating Kindness hop is here again, and the Guest Designer this month is Jess Collard. Welcome, Jess! I can't wait to see what you create 😁

The theme this month is Animals, so let's see where this takes us!

ETA: I finally got the kinks worked out on uplaoding my videos, so here is the one I created for this hop.

So, this card started with a stencil. I was playing with this stencil to create a water background, as the stencil is called Water Ripples. It evolved and inspired me to make this critter bonfire!

I used Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Faded Jeans Distress Oxides to ink bled over the stencil, and to create the panel behind the stenciled background. It was also spritzed with Picket Fence Distress Spray, and spattered with Hero Arts White Glimmer Metallic Ink.

These critters are from the Hero Arts S'mores Bonfire stamp set with coordinating dies. They are colored with Copic markers.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set, and is die cut with the Kat Scrappiness Embossed Edge Rectangle dies.

I even had to put a die cut bonfire on the inside of the card with that awesome sentiment from the stamp set.

How many of you are having bonfires now? Have some S'mores for me!

Spring Celebrations 2020: Mother's Day

Hey Festival Friends!! This past Christmas, I decided to invite some crafty friends to join me in a Festival of Christmas with a themed, limited run series of social media hops. It was so fun that we decided to do more limited run series!

And it is time for another one: Spring Celebrations. There are five episodes in this series, and this one focuses on Mother's Day.

I don't know about you, but I am always whipping up a few last minute Mother's Day cards. And everything I make gets used right up! Let's give tribute to all those female role models in our lives.

One of my co-workers commissioned me to make a few Mother's Day cards for her, and this one is for a pregnant friend of hers, for her very first Mother's Day!

I started by ink blending the background with Cracked Pistachio and Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide inks. Then I very carefully, with the aid of my MISTI, covered the 5x7 panel in a diagonal with the Concord and 9th Sketched Stripes background using Versamark ink. It was then White Satin Pearl heat embossed.

The panel was then die cut with my now go-to dies, Honey Bee Stamps A7 Double Stitched Frames dies.  Because I am obsessed with 5x7 cards now. Seriously.

All of the dimension on this card is achieved using coaster blanks. Inexpensive, lightweight, recycled, and recyclable. Easily die cut too! If you haven't tried it, you might want to. I will never go back to foam tape or fun foam.

This floral cluster is from Concord and 9th Hello Lovely stamp set and coordinating dies. It is White Satin Pearl heat embossed on watercolor paper and watercolor painted with Daniel Smith paints. LOVE them. Obsessed with them. Thankful to be part of a group that does shares of them. That way, I get about 25 colors in half pans for about $100. I only have 2 shares, but that will hold me for a while 😉

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink-Keep It Simple: Mother. It is stamped in Cracked Pistachio, then clear heat embossed with Brutus Monroe Icicle Ultra Fine embossing powder. It is, by far, my favorite clear embossing powder.

It needed something more, so I dug out the Concord and 9th Tropical Vibes dies and cut out a bunch of leaves from vellum to tuck behind the die cut floral cluster.

I hit the inside quick with Pumice Stone ink and the floral cluster and finished with Versafine Onyx Black for the sentiment.
