Stampin Addicts Occasions Mini Blog Hop: Baby, We've Grown

http://www.stampinaddicts.com/forums...-3-2014-a.html (Occasions Catalog Hop - January 3, 2014)
It's so exciting, a new catalog! We all just love new stuff :) And we at Stampin' Addicts are no different than the rest of stampers. New toys make us giddy! We are sharing our new toys and our ideas with you from the newest Occasions Mini today!

There is a master list of the hop on the official hop thread at Stampin' Addicts. If you are hopping through in order, then you just arrived from Kim's blog where she used Perfect Pennants so perfectly!

I am featuring Baby, We've Grown. I have some ulterior motives choosing this set, as I will be a grandmother for the first time in April!!! Let's get started :)

This is an 8x8 scrapbook page that can be used for a picture of a pregnant belly, or a new family, or the new baby! This owl family image is pretty versatile :)

And how about that adorable little bunny?! I can just see a kiddo hugging him or dragging him around by his ears! The main image is stamped on watercolor paper and colored in with an Aqua-Painter.  Check out some of the other new goodies from the Occasions Mini- Starburst framelits, Natural Chevron ribbon, and the Arrows embossing folder!

Inside, I used a phrase from Cuddles & Kisses and added the bunny again.

And how about a little box to hold a package of adorable little baby socks!! This box is made in the same way as the K Cup box that I designed last month, but the dimensions and score lines are different.

Base is 8"x11"
With 8" side up, score at 1", 3", 5", 7"
With 11" side up, score at 1", 3", 8", 10"

Cover is 8½"x5"
With 8½" side up, score at 2-1/16", 4-1/8", 6-3/16, 8-1/4"

The ends of the box are watercolored in the colors of the project: Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, and Daffodil Delight.

That's all I have for you, so now on to Mary's blog to see the wonderful projects she made with Pomp & Circumstance!

Elephants Galore!

When I look at this little elephant from the SAB set Patterned Occasions, all I can think of is baby cards! He is just so cute!!! So, I have this package of notecards and envelope sitting on my desk begging to be used, and a friend who had a baby last month. So I think, maybe she needs some cute little thank you cards to send out. And then I start making some with different patterned papers. I had to restrain myself!

This one is done in River Rock and Gumball Green DSP from Print Poetry DSP pack. I will be so sad to see the River Rock go.... I think I better stock up on some paper! The ribbon is actually from way back when River Rock was an In-Color. Yes, I hoard retired stuff! But I am trying to let go and use some of  it up.  :)

How about some Island Indigo and Cherry Cobbler? The DSP is from Festival of Prints from the Holiday Mini. Some embossed hearts and Island Indigo Baker's Twine to round it out.

Midnight Muse and Summer Starfruit came out to play with some more Print Poetry DSP!

Lucky Limeade and Natural Trim ribbon look great with this non-SU stripe/plaid I had in my stash.

Pool Party goes really well with this paper too!

Which one is your favorite?

Special Delivery

One of my Stamp Club ladies (friend, co-worker, husband's boss too) had a baby last month and I wanted something special for the card. The delivery was a dangerous one and we are so happy they are both doing very well now so this was an even more special delivery :) Welcome little Isaac!

Does this layout look familiar? It should. The card I posted 2 days ago is the same layout. When something works well, it bears repeating :)

  • Stamps: Sent with Love, Cuddles & Kisses
  • Ink: Tangerine Tango, Pool Party
  • Paper: Pool Party, Pool Party Core'dinations, Whisper White, Sent with Love DSP
  • Other: Big Shot with Chevrons EF, 2½" and 1" Circle punches, Sanding Block, SAB buttons, Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Paper Piercer and Mat, sewing machine and thread, dimensionals
Here is the inside. It looks a little washed out because it is. I accidentally grabbed some cheap white cardstock to line this with and it did not take the ink as well as I would have liked... but you can still read it fine. Live and learn!

SAB Elephant

Time to give a little more love to the Sale-A-Bration selections! The elephant from Patterned Occasions has a thank you sentiment attached, but I cut that off for this card. I started out thinking about a baby card, but by the time I finished I thought it could be for several different occasions! The inspiration for this card is the fact that the elephants from 2 sets complement each other and I just had to combine them in a card :)

I know, one is holding a heart and the other is holding a flower, but I still think they look good together. I think it is a matter of scale.
  • Stamps: Patterned Occasions, A Fitting Occasion, Itty Bitty Bits
  • Ink: Midnight Muse, Lucky Limeade, Early Espresso
  • Paper: Whisper White, Lucky Limeade, Crumb Cake, Midnight Muse
  • Other: Big Shot with Hexagon EF and Apothercary Accents framelits, Wide Oval punch, Signo white gel pen, dimensionals, buttons
How many occasions can you think of to use this card for?

Baby Time!

So, this fall I worked really hard at filling a big box of cards for Operation Write Home, and then after I achieved that goal, I decided I needed to round out the selection of cards in the box I keep at work to sell. I had no baby cards in that box but I had a tab for them, so I got busy on that subject!

Bring on the ark! This is such an easy image to color! I used Whisper White paper and blender pens to color these, and I made 3 different styles.

So very blue on this one. I like to mix up the layered shapes too.

I had to get a little creative with the main image shapes on the yellow cards because I stamped them too close together on the paper before I cut them out. I know, rookie mistake! But I still make them sometimes, and then I either pitch it and start again, or find a way to make it work.
  • Stamps: Two by Two
  • Ink: Summer Starfruit and Cajun Craze or Midnight Muse and Crumb Cake, with various inks for coloring
  • Paper: Crumb Cake and Whisper White with either Summer Starfruit and Naturals white ot Midnight Muse and Bashful Blue
  • Other: Big Shot with Lacey Brocade EF, Apothecary Accents framelits, 2½" Circle punch, paper piercer with Essentials PPP, blender pens, Signo white gel pen, dimensionals, buttons, Baker's Twine

(Oh, and don't go hunting for that background paper, I stamped that with some contraband, and the buttons are not SU either. )

Oh, Hello : SA Spring Mini Blog Hop

Well, it's time to kick off a new season of creativity! The holidays are done and the mad rushing about is over. I bet a few of us lost our mojo for a while during the craziness too, lol! But now, there is a new catalog just around the corner and inspiration awaits! A bunch of us from Stampin Addicts have gotten together again to bring you a peek at the new stuff from the Occasions Mini that will go live on January 3rd. Join us for a fun hop and we will try to temp you with the new goodies :)

If you are starting this hop at the beginning, I am the first stop, and I am featuring the Oh, Hello  stamp set. If you started somewhere in the middle, you probably arrived here from Betty's blog featuring All Dressed Up.  Awesome work Betty!

My first project uses all kinds of new goodies. Paper, doilies, embossing folder... and of course the new stamps! I just thought that adding "baby" to the sentiment would make it an adorable baby card. The "Baby" is from the Rain or Shine set.

Next up is this fun bag with several pockets to add goodies and a full sized card or notecard. Not my original idea, I got it from Michele Wooderson and have been hoarding the idea for a while. I kept this one pretty simple. You can see some of the candy I tucked in the front pocket. It holds quite a lot! THe bag is just a lunch sack folded and stitched on 3 sides.

This is the notecard I made to slip inside the pockets. I zig-zag stitched this also. I love the look of real stitching, and I bet my sewing needle is going to be too dull to sew fabric with soon!

Last up, a Thank You card featuring the fun patterned chevron stamp. I did not use a stamp-a-ma-jig, just eye-balled it. I think I did pretty well :) And check out the new embossing folder! I used it twice on this cardfront!

I hope I offered you some good inspiration here! And now, on with the hop! The next stop is Adriana with the Tea For Two fabric. She will not disappoint :)

If you get lost along the way, here is the link to the Blog Hop thread at Stampin Addicts.

White Gel Pen Tutorial and A Little Baby Love

So, I have ventured into the video tutorial arena again. Hopefully I have learned enough to make it better than my first attempts :)

You all my have noticed that I use the Signo white gel pens,  ALOT. I jokingly asked if I needed to do a seminar on them, and then was told "Yes, yes you do!"

So here goes!

I hope this video is helpful to you all, and what a learning experience! If I can make this process go faster, I may do more videos :)

Here is one of the cards you get a peek of in the video. I made 2 baby cards, one boy and one girl, for those times when I need one now! Lots of retiring stuff here, but I still love it all!
  • Stamps: Fox & Friends, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Occasional Quotes
  • Ink: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Early Espresso
  • Paper: Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, Naturals White
  • Other: Crumb Cake Corduroy button, Peach Parfait Polytwill ribbon, 1" Square punch, Signo White gel pen, Stampin' Dimensionals, Big Shot with Perfect Details Texturz plate

And the girl version! Add a few punches, substitute the Basic Pearls for the ribbon and button , and Blushing Bride foe the Peach Parfait.

So, pull out those Signo white gel pens and give these tips a try!

Textiles Baby Boy Card

This was a really fun card to put together. I love all the texture! I had been neglecting my texture plates lately and was reminded how wonderful they are when I signed up to feature the Reverse Faux Letterpress technique for the Stampin' Addicts Birthday Blog hop. Then I couldn't stop using them!!

I was going for the baby quilt feel, which is one of my favorites for baby cards. You can never have enough blankets for baby :) There is some DSP from the Hostess Pack in here too! I stamped the elephants on it and texturized it too. Very versatile stuff!

Inside is decorated too with strips of the paper from the front and a paper button cut out with Buttons #5 sizzlet and Reverse Faux Letterpress technique to add texture and ink to it with the woodgrain texture plate.
  • Stamps: Animal Stories, Occasional Quotes, Sweetness Unlimited
  • Paper: Naturals White, Soft Suede, Peach Parfait, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz DSP
  • Ink: Soft Suede, Peach Parfait, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz
  • Other: Big Shot with Buttons #5 sizzlet, Backgrounds 1 and Texture Plates Kit #4 , Scallop Oval punch, Large Oval punch, Modern Label punch, Signo white gel pen

And I am using this little single stamp a TON! You just might have to have it too!

Sweet Baby Animal Stories

More baby stuff! This is for a boy obviously. And the animals are so darn cute!!! This one is a money holder, just like the last one.

Lots of dimensionals popping up the sentiment. I also popped the top panel up too.

Here is the inside of the card. Like the scalloped edge? I hope it is still appropriate for a boy  :)
  • Stamps: Animal Stories, Occasional Quotes, Sweetness Unlimited
  • Paper: Marina Mist, Soft Suede, Naturals Ivory
  • Ink: Marina Mist, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake
  • Other: Dotted Scallop Ribbon punch, Scallop border punch, Designer Label punch, Wide Oval punch, Modern Label punch, Pear Pizzazz ribbon, Sticky Strip, Dimensionals

Here is a front view, complete with my outlines and white stitches! Do you think I will ever stop making those? I try, but I can't stop!

And I made another envelope for this card, but I am using up more of the DSP from SAB 2 years ago. It matches this card pretty darn well!
