Stamp Review Crew: Open Sea Edition

We at the Stamp Review Crew are featuring a rather masculine set this time, although it could sure be used for anyone who loves the ocean, sailing ships, or travel. We try to feature all kinds of sets in addition to having all kinds of styles in our hops :)

I had a lot of fun with the digital and the clear mount versions of this set. I had gotten a Silhouette Cameo e-cutter for Christmas, and I am still learning what you can do with it. And one of the things you can do is create cut-outs of an image in any size. Don't you just love those little anchors with the DSP showing through?! The Ship and the large anchor were cut out with the Silhouette, then stamped. I used a little bit of Washi tape to secure the cut out, then used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get the images placed just right. The phrases are from Just Sayin' , I just inked up the sayings with my markers and left the word bubbles uninked.

Inside I added a couple of anchors very simply in the lower right corner. This is definitely an all occasion card!

This card popped into my head as I was typing up this post, and supposed to be getting ready for work. Just hope that I got showered and fed before I had to go start my 12 hour shift in the ER :) You can't see it very well, but there is a panel of vertical embossed stripes on a raised panel. VERY clean and simple, not really my style usually.
ETA: I took some better photos when I got up tonight. I think these show the card better. White on white is hard to catch after dark!

You might be able to see the embossing better from this angle. And of course I stamped a little on the inside too. :)

Stamp Review Crew Bonus Edition: Happy Congratulations

Welcome to the first ever bonus edition of the Stamp Review Crew! This is a set that we received requests for. You asked and we listened! This is a shorter hop than many of the others, but it will still be full of ideas for this set :)

The paper lanterns in this set have endless possibilities to me. They look like croquet balls, or balls of yarn, or fun patterned circles. They punch out perfectly with a ¾" circle punch too!

  This first one is a simple take on this stamp set with the addition of the sentiment on just one of the paper lanterns. It is from the Just Sayin word bubble stamp set. I was able to stamp the whole "woo-hoo!" image, then stamp the paper lantern over it. The word bubble part of the image does not interfere with this combo at all! All I had to do was punch it out with the ¾" circle punch. That really is a woo-hoo!

Then I just added on string of lanterns on the inside. I wanted to keep this card gender neutral. I am thinking of using it as a birthday card :)

My next idea was to make the lanterns look like balloons. And I thought they would look cute in a word bubble! We all need more masculine cards, right?!I had  to sneak some woodgrain in there too :)

My last project is on a yarn theme. It was hard to find a sentiment that fit the theme at first, but a kitten and yarn make me smile, so I thought these went together well. On the Strawberry Slush Core'dinations panel, I first sanded it a bit to distress it, then stamped the outline image (minus the strings) to give is a circle pattern.
The heart was from one of the My Paper Pumpkin kits- I don't remember which one. There are lots of heart images that would work for this though. And I can't seem to stop using the Decorative Dots embossing folder (one of the Sale-A-Bration offerings this year). The random irregular dot pattern is so easy to add to so many designs :)

There are a few more balls of yarn on the inside too.I think this is my favorite of the three. I wish there had been more time for me to stamp more of my ideas in time for this hop!
