Stamp Review Crew: I Think You're Great Edition

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2016/02/stamp-review-crew-i-think-youre-great.html
Well, it has been a busy weekend in my household! We drove up to see our oldest son David, his wife Carrie, and our grandson Cameron yesterday. They live 2.5 hours from us, and since we heat our home with an indoor woodstove, and have 3 big dogs in the house, we have to make these visits as day trips. Lots of driving, but the weather and the roads were good. And our son Geoffrey and his fiance Amanda were riding with us, so there was lots of talking goin' on. About wedding planning of course! We got a Pinterest board set up for Amanda and I to pin decor, flowers, dress, and invitations to. And then we searched for the perfect blue flowers, and place settings, and wedding dresses!

Ok, I better get back on task. That is a BIG project coming my way in the next 17 months, lol!

If this is your first time hopping with us, then I should tell you that we are an international group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that gets together every first and third Monday of the month to feature a single stamp set. We share lots of ideas for that set to get you excited and inspired :) You can check out the master blog roll on our home blog, and find all of our past hops, and all of the links will take you directly to the posts you are looking for!

If you are following along in order, then you just arrived from Nancy Smith's blog! I am sure she inspired you :)

First off, let me apologize for the Wisteria Wonder blob on the lower left corner.... That is what happens when you leave your just finished card on your work space while you are closing inkpads. And they flip out of your hands and land ink side down on your card. An hour before your blog hop deadline... Yup. Not redoing that puppy! I will probably send this too my daughter for a good laugh. She will understand :)
I saw a color combo on something on Pinterest this week and wanted to use it, so that is where this card started. I used the Kissing technique on the circle sentiment, inking it up with Wisteria Wonder, Placing the stamp on the patterned stamp to remove some of the ink in a pattern, huffed on the ink, and stamped the circle sentiment onto some Whisper White cardstock. I like the subtle interest it adds.
Speaking of subtle, the Sahara Sand panel is embossed with the Lucky Stars embossing folder. I thought it was retired and was pleasantly surprised recently when I saw it in the Annual Catalog!
Can you see the Gold Foil Vellum in the background? It adds just a touch of bling, without having to glue on any sequins :)

The radiating petals, leaves, or raindrops, and the circle are both popped up on dimensionals. They are level with each other so it should make this easy to mail too.

Inside, I inked this image with Wisteria Wonder and stamped off once before stamping inside. It should be easy to write over the top of this image.

This card has a watercolored background. I just used an Aqua-painter and Soft Sky reinker to color the entire panel and dried it with the heat tool. Then I spattered some water across the panel and picked up some of the Soft Sky. Then I stamped a rainbow of clouds :) When I was stitching around the card, I accidentally got some Pacific Point ink on my fingers from the blue cloud that was not dry yet and smeared it on the card. But I kind of liked it so I touched the blue cloud again and smeared some more around :)
I think my blood sugar might have been a little low while I was creating this afternoon. That would be a good excuse for all of my mistakes and clumsiness, right? Blame it on the Weight Watchers ;) Which is going very well by the way. Down 35 pounds so far :) Many more to go...

And how about a little picture of Cameron and his grandpa Jamie :) All right, enough about me!

It's time to go see what Bronwyn Eastley has whipped up for us this time!

Valentine Countdown #1: Nuts For You

I had another brainstorm, and I decided that I wanted to do a countdown to Valentine's Day. From now until Valentine's Day, I will post 10 Valentine's projects! Sounds fun, right?! I will try to focus on the different kinds of people in our lives that we might enjoy sending a card to, or give a little gift too. And of, course, there will be masculine stuff. Everything seems to be cutsie or feminine, but I want to show you some stuff we can give to the men in our lives too.
So without further ado, here is the first project!

I had a couple leftover class kits lurking in my craft area, and while I was organizing (shifting things around a bit), I stumbled on this kit. Originally, it was a thank you card without the Crumb cake. But inspiration hit and this is what popped out! I realize that Baked Brown Sugar is retired, but I still have the ink, cardstock, and embellishments. AND it coordinates with the acorns in this paper perfectly, so I had to use the ink :)Stamp, stamp, punch, punch. Emboss, and die cut. Glue, stitch, gold thread tangle, dimensionals. Done!

Inside more stamp, stamp, stamp, but with slightly different colors. I used Sahara Sand on the crumb Cake on the front as it provided a nice subtle image, then inside I wanted it to be Crumb Cake and Baked Brown Sugar. I adore the way this sentiment from Botanicals For You completes the sentiment on the front! It is one of the Sale-A-Bration offerings this year. Be sure to get one for yourself!

What do you think? Is this worthy of a man in your life?
