Well, how did the end of October get here so fast?! I know that it is almost a cliche' that life zips by faster and faster the older you get, but sometimes things are a cliche' for a reason! My goodness, how time flies! And before we know it, we are all going to need to be sending out our Christmas cards. Well, I think I may actually be prepared this year :) But everyone may be getting a unique card as I have made so many one-offs, lol.
The card I made for this month's Year of Christmas is a bit quirky. Just like me and my whole family :)
I could not resist that festive little fish! I mean, I do live in the Land of 10,000 Lakes! {It is actually closer to 12,000- but who's counting ;) }
Here is how I made this card:
- Heat emboss the cod image on a piece of watercolor paper, colored him with an Aqua-painter and ink squeezed onto an inkpad lid, and cut him out with the coordinating die from the Bear Hugs framelits.
- Take a 4"x5¼" piece of watercolor paper and emboss the top half with the Seaside embossing folder.
- Heat emboss the sentiment below the dry embossing with Archival Black ink and Clear embossing powder. Be sure to use that Embossing Buddy to avoid extra embossing.
- The DSP is a 2"x4" strip of the Warmth & Cheer DSP stack adhered to the watercolor panel.
- Optional for everyone but me: stitch all the way around the DSP and the rest of the panel.
- Put a couple dimensionals behind the die cut fish and remove the backing. Create a little nest of Silver Thread and stick to the exposed dimensionals. Adhere to the card front.
- Create a card base with another piece of watercolor paper.
- Stamp the sentiment from Wrapped in Warmth in Archival Black ink, heat emboss with Clear embossing powder. Use the Labeler Alphabet set to stamp "and cod" and heat emboss this also. Stamp the cod and heat emboss this too.
- Adhere the completed front panel to the card base using dimensionals. All done!
The inside came together nicely, don't you think? I love the Labeler Alpha set, and I am so glad I finally got it!
Here is a close-up of this little fella. I colored him with layers of Mint Macaron and Cucumber Crush. Perfect fish colors!!
What do you think? Too quirky? Or can you think of at least 3 people you would send this too?
