Shellebrate with a Cover Plate!

When I got the June 2020 Brutus Monroe Ispiration Box (and all the "of the Month" stuff), I just had to play with that coverplate die! It is gorgeous, and I am so happy that there was a die in this kit!

I did put a video together so you can watch me experiment and come up with these cards.

This is actually the last one I made, and I like to call it the Bold Gold card.
I used a sheet of sticker paper to apply the Gilding Flakes, then glued that to a piece of cardstock before. die cutting that gorgeous cover plate die.
And stuck that to another sticker sheet and filled the negative spaces with some"vintage" glitter from my stash! I am pretty sure I got that glitter from someone else's destash over 10 years ago and used it for the first time right there!

I painted that gold panel with Inka Gold in yellow gold by adding a smidge of water to it and painting with a flat brush, then heat set it. Cause I am SOOO patient, lol!

Trying to capture the shimmer and shine of all the things here, not entirely successfully.

Then, I stenciled the inside of the card. You are totally shocked, right 😉
I also had a new product on my desk that came in a Simon Says Stamp kit- the Cosmic Shimmer Opal Blaze Polish in Gilded Avocado. Gurrll! It is gorgeous!! Like, I want to buy extras and I have only used it once! Watch the video- then you will see why! Stunning, that is all.

This one is ink blended with either Hero Hues Reactive inks in Lemon Drop, Creamsicle, and Fruit Punch
or
Distress Oxides in Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, and Abandoned Coral.
I can't remember which.
Oh, Wait! I think the die cut panel is Distress Oxides and the panel behind it is Hero Hues Reactive Inks. And that the Hero Hues panel is smooshed and has some Inka Gold smooshing too. And the die cut panel was ink blended with brushes. See what happens when you wait to write a post?!

After gluing the die cut panel to other panel, I added some Bearly Art Precision glue to the negative spaces. And stuffed Gilding flakes in with my fingers. Don't do it. I was channeling James Bond villains!

This sentiment is from a past Stamp of the Month from Brutus Monroe, and I think is now sold out. Sorry! I did stampo it with Versafine Onyx Black and heat emboss it with a clear sparkling embossing powder.

And stenciled the inside of the card again.

This one. OK, let's talk about the less easy method of applying gilding flakes that I tried before the sticker sheets.

I used my ATG gun and covered a panel of cardstock with it. The took a lot of ATG tape, and a lot of time.

Do yourself a favor when you are working with the Gilding Flakes- use them in a box with a hinged lid so you can contain that stuff! It is like glitter, only bigger!

The top panel was spritzed with some DIY colored shimmer spray that I made way back with reinker, Perfect Pearls, and water in a Mini Mister.

The panel behind that was just the leftover ink smooshed off the craft sheet from the previous card.

I die cut the Gilded panel and the spritzed panel, then stuck the spritzed panel to a piece of sticker sheet before poking the gilded negatives into the pink panel negatives spaces. Incidentally, this is when I thought to use the sticker sheets for the gilding!

And here we have the Soft Gold card. This is the positive panel of the Gilded stuff from the last card. I also stuck this to a sticker sheet and filled it with a fine white glitter.

The panel behind that was created by adding a little Inka Gold to a Mini Mister that has some brown reinker and water in it. Then spritzing a sheet of. cardstock. with it. I love the mellow tone, and how well it matches the gilding flakes!

This sentiment is from another mermaid kit, Beautiful Mermaids from Simon Says Stamp. I have a lot of mermaid stuff in my stash!

Well, that was a photo heavy post! Glad you came to take a look? Leave me a comment. And. go check out the video!
