Simple Galaxy Texture

While I was looking through my stash for a good sentiment for a project the other day, I stumbled on the Milky Way fancy frame die from Hero Arts. I had just received the July 2019 Wacky Holiday of the Month stamp set from Kindred Stamps, and it happens to be World UFO Day. A match made in the heavens!!

Isn't he adorable?! I haven't colored anything is a while, I hadn't even realized that I missed it.
Copics used:
  • Alien: YG21, YG03, YG25, YG17
  • Spaceship: W1, W2, C00, C2, B16, B28, R46, 437

I did a video of the card process, so check that out for all the details.

The galaxy patterned paper I used was from the Kindred Stamps Space Heroes limited edition box that came out last fall. It is really heavy, like 110# cardstock! I had not used any of it before, but this project seemed the perfect time to start.

I used the Marbled TurnAbout from Concord and 9th with White Satin Pearl embossing powder to create the textured oval behind the Milky Way fancy frame die cut. I can't say enough how much I love that embossing powder. Pure magic! There are several marbled background stamps you could use for this technique, and I have linked a few below.

The black cardstock is embossed with a retired Stampin' Up! embossing folder, but Kaiser Crafts has an almost identical one. It happens to be on clearance at Scrapbook.com right now!

I used a sentiment from the Space Heroes stamp set (which again, was a limited edition) with Versafine Onyx Black ink. The spaceship is stamped with Weathered Wood Distress Oxide.

One of my favorite alien movies is Independence Day, what's yours?
