Father's Day Nears

This card is a special request from a co-worker. Her dad likes books. Well, I don't have any book stamps, but I do have the Word Window punch!

I used the punch to make the books and strips of paper to make the shelf. I hope it looks like books to everyone else, lol! I used the Big shot and the Red Tag Sale dies for the letters along with some light weight coasters with Tall Tales SU! DSP glue stick to it for the "Dad" title. I also bought the Father Knows Best set form PaperTreyInk a while back as it has the most awesome Father's day sentiments. Now I finally got to use them :) I'm sorry SU!, sometimes I must stray...
The Always Artichoke paper behind "Dad" is faux sueded- I crumpled the paper up, flattened it, ran it over my bone folder (similar to the technique used to curl ribbon), then peeled the paper into 2 layers. I then glued it down with the inside on the paper showing, all soft, fuzzy, and distressed.
  • Stamps: PTI Father Knows Best
  • Paper: Soft Suede, Always Artichoke, So Saffron, Whisper White, Tall Tales DSP
  • Ink: Soft Suede inkpad and marker
  • Other: Big Shot and Red Tag Sale die, dimensionals, gold brads, word window punch, light weight coaster, bone folder

Let me know what you think! I love comments :)

Stamp Club project #2

Father's Day is fast approaching and so we did a Father's Day card this month also.

This was actually a fairly quick card, even the coloring didn't take that long. I am trying to use up some of the retired Designer Series paper that I have been hoarding forever. I mean, really, I bought it to use it. Nobody is going to see it unless I use it on some projects! And the new stuff coming soon is just YUMMY! So, what did I use on this card? Some of the soon-to-be-gone stamps and colors. It is the month of the Last Chance List!
  • Stamps: And Many Mower, Sanded BG
  • Paper: Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Ski Slope Designer Series Paper
  • Ink: Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip
  • Other: Distressing tool from Cutter Kit, dimensionals, blender pens

Inside the card it says:

RELAX!

Happy Father's Day

June Stamp Club project #1

Ok, I know I haven't posted last month's projects yet, but the pictures are on the camera my daughter took with her this weekend. If I can remember which projects they were, I'll find them and retake pics of them :)

We had a really good turn out for club this month, and we had a really great time! This is the scrapbook page we did for this month.

I used some of the soon-to-be-retired In-Colors on the projects this month. I have become rather attached to them, again! By the end of the year, I LOVE all of the colors and am sad to see them go. But the new In-Colors, which I have already seen, are awesome too. Now, on to the supply list!
  • Stamps: Just Beachy, Lazy Days JW, Dotted Lines JW
  • Paper: Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, Delicate Dots Designer Series Paper from SAB this year
  • Ink: Bashful Blue, Tangerine Tango, Really Rust, Old Olive, More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Basic Brown journaler
  • Other: Wheel Guide, Circle Scissors, 1", 1-1/4", & 1-3/4" circle punches, sponge, Kiwi Kiss striped grosgrain ribbon, Billboard alpha die with Big Shot, dimensionals

The middle photo area is 4 x 8-1/2" and the bottom photo is a 4 x 6" photo. These pictures are of my nephew Austin and were taken last year. The journaling reads:

"These pictures were taken in July '08 after a big thunderstorm in Little Falls. Austin found a puddle in G'ma & G'pa's driveway & could not resist playing in it! He ran thru it, stomped & splashed in it, squished mud thru his fingers & between his toes. Ahhh... the joys of youth! I think it's time to go find a puddle of my own!"

It been so long....

I'm sorry everybody! I have been so busy with my oldest 2 kids graduating from high school, I haven't had time to do anything with my blog. Now that both grad ceremonies and both grad parties are done, I can get back to my more normal life. Maybe. We'll see. But I'm going to try! But first, here is a pic of the 2 grads :)

Here is the one new card that I actually have a photo of. All the rest are still on my camera, which I have to share with my whole family! It has been out of my hands quite a lot lately. It currently went with my daughter to a tattoo convention. Hmmm... I wonder what kind of photos I will see.
Ok, back to stamping! Here is the anniversary card I made for my hubby. It was our 19th on June 2nd! I used all new stamps, and the new In-Colors that will come out on July 1st! I already love them.

  • Stamps: Razzle Dazzle, Circle Circus, Teeny Tiny Wishes
  • Paper: Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Dusty Durango, Very Vanilla
  • Ink: Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Dusty Durango
  • Other: CAD with copper eyelets, Large oval and heart punches, Lots of Tags die and Big Shot, Soft Suede ribbon, paper piercer and mat pack, white gel pen, distressing tool from cutter kit, dimensionals
This is also a big card, I folded a full sheet of paper in half to make it. I'm starting to really like this size :)
Hopefully I will be posting more goodies in the very near future as I have a few days off from my "real job", giggle!

Another Grad Card

I made this card last night when I made the girlie one. This one would work for a guy or a girl, which is helpful if you are justing keeping some on hand! I have 2 kids graduating from high school this year, and I am sure I will need tons of cards for all the friends they have! I'm also thinking of doing some cards with the school colors. These are NOT the school colors here tho, lol.
This card actually came together rather quickly. I have been trying to use card sketches and color challenges to help speed things up, which seems to be working well for me :) I used a MojoMonday card sketch and a Kristina Werner color challenge, both from a long time ago, thus the use of the retired colors, oops!
  • Stamps: Great Grads, Star Struck (retired)
  • Paper: Sahara Sand, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi (retired), Whisper White
  • Ink: So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi (retired)
  • Other: ribbon, clear EP, heat gun, paper piercer and mat pack for brad placement, Crop-A-Dile, gold brads and eyelets, dimensionals
Close up to show all of the dimension on this card. I think I will need to buy more dimensionals soon, I can't seem to stop using them lately!

And here is the inside of the card with the embossed sentiment. I think I better make some more!

Butterfly Graduation Card

Well, it's getting to be that time of year again. Lots of graduations coming up, lots of new beginning's and major achievements. And time to make some graduation cards! Here is a very girlie one I just made tonight.

The butterfly is cut from a corrugated cardboard box with one layer peeled off, then inked with 2 colors of ink and embossed a little with clear EP. Love this element! I have been trying to work it into a project for over a week now. :)
I also love the way the scalloped border edge looks tucked between the 2 layers of eyelet border.
  • Stamps: Great Grad
  • Paper: Kraft, Regal Rose, Purely Pomegranate (retired), Wild Wasabi (retired), Whisper White
  • Ink: Regal Rose, Purely Pomegranate (retired), Wild Wasabi (retired), Whisper White, Versamark
  • Other: Beautiful Butterflies die and Flourish texture plate with Big Shot, white gel pen, clear EP, heat dun, silver brads and eyelets, Crop-A-Dile, Pink Rhinestone brad, Eyelet and Scallop edge punches, dimensionals, paper piercer and mat pack for brad placement
This is a close-up of that gorgeous butterfly. I just LOVE it! Doesn't it almost look like it has frosting on it?! Of course, now this card won't fit in an A2 envelope, but I have a stash of envelopes in various sizes, so I found one that will work :) Pack-ratting does work sometimes!

This is the inside of the card. I inked the stamp with Versamark, then inked it again with Regal Rose, then stamped it on the Regal Rose paper. then used clear EP to emboss it. Just yummy in real life! You can't tell in the pics, but I did the same with "GRAD" on the front of the card.
Tell me what you think :)

Sympathy Card for Roxanne

My department supervisor's husband died on Saturday morning after a week of being comatose after a brain bleed. Very sad. Roxanne and Stuart loved each other so obviously in their quiet way. You know the type of relationship. Their faces always lit up when they saw each other or when they talked about each other. The little touches and the body language all screamed tenderness, love, and caring. I had been thinking about doing a Thinking of you card for her on Friday, then a co-worker called Saturday morning to let me know that Stuart had passed away at 4am. Would I like to make a card, she says. Uh, duh! Of Course! Then she says "How long do you think you need to get it done, cuz I could come get it this morning." This was at 9:30am. I wasn't even out of bed yet when she called! But I told her to give me an hour and I would get something put together. Good thing I already had a card layout in mind and knew which stamps I wanted to use. So, at 11 am she shows up at my door. Hey, she even gave me an extra half hour, good girl! Then she watched me finish up. I made a standard A2 sized card- not thinking! Everyone in our dept is going to sign this thing, need more space! So half way through making it, I decided I needed to include an insert for a continuation of signatures. It all worked out. And here it is! I think I can say that I am happy with it.
