Inky Friends New Annual Catalog Blog Hop: Magical Mermaid

http://myinkyfriends.blogspot.com/2017/06/new-annual-catalog-blog-hop-is-here.html
Hello friends! Here we go with another blog hop, and it looks like a new one! But no, it is just a renaming of a group of stampin' friends of mine. We used to blog hop as the Stampin' Addicts. We are calling ourselves Inky Friends now 😋 And we are going to share a bunch of ideas for some our favorite stamp sets in the new Annual Catalog!

This hop goes in a circle linking to each blog along the way. But if you get lost, or just want to see the complete blog roll, you can click on the banner at the top of this post, or click here.
If you are hopping along in order, you just arrived from Mickey Roberts blog where she featured Fabulous Flamingo!

I am using Magical Mermaid. It is available in Clear mount and Wood mount.

I could not wait to get this set into my hot little hands! I see so much potential in this set. Let's see if I can spark your interest

I went a little crazy with the colors on this card. While planning this card, I opened my scrap files and just started pulling colors. As I kept adding colors to the pile, I realized I had to stop! 😂 I clearly wanted to make it is every color! This was used for a swap also, so everyone got a different color.

This is the Lemon Lime Twist option. And the inside of the Pool Party card.

And I must have felt that it was time for more videos, because I made one of this card. And for the next card!

Here I used the Ghosting technique to make a rainbow mermaid background. Super easy, super fun!

And here is the video for this card.

Last up is this bookmark/tag/page embellishment. It is a 2"x7" strip of watercolor paper that I did a few things too 😉
  • First, I stamped the mermaid in Archival Black. Then I created a mask for the mermaid with copy paper and secured it to the piece with loops of washi underneath.
  • Next I sponged on Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, and Soft Sky. I removed the mask and carefully spritzed with water and used the heat tool to dry it. Then I added some spatters of water and dabbed those off with a cloth.
  • Then I took the Marbled background stamp and inked it up with the blues, reapplied the mask, and laid the watercolor strip onto the background stamp. And picked it up and finished stamping the top on another spot that had the Soft Sky ink.
  • Finally, I watercolored the mermaid with Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay, and Soft Suede (hair and skin, just different dilutions). And added some Clear Wink of Stella! Oh, and I stamped the sentiment in Archival Black.

You may have noticed that there are some differences in the styles on the photos. I am trying to improve my photography, and to streamline the process. So I am using my cell phone camera more, and found a couple of new-to-me apps to try. This is part of my learning curve, lol! Feel free to share your thoughts on the different styles 😏

And now it is time to go see what Sara Wills has whipped up with Merry Mistletoe!

Gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS! So many great options in so many colors. I think I like the rainbow best but the single design in multiple colors is awesome!
