Feathered Burlap

Why do I think feathers are a seasonal thing? Feathers feel like fall to me. Maybe because of duck and pheasant hunting season here... I am not sure. But now is when I am feeling the feathers, hehe! This is another extended flip-flop card.

I used this color challenge from The Paper Players but I posted this card too late to add it to their linkies, oh well!

But I think it still works for this challenge. I could be thinking of someone, on their birthday ;) Actually, I am so bad about getting my cards out in the mail on time, this year I have resorted to using thinking of you cards for all of the late birthday wishes :blush:

Here is is all closed up. I used some of that fabulous Burlap ribbon from the Holiday Mini. And can you tell that the smallest feather is stamped in Gold? The feathers under the button were stamped on vellum and then cut out.

Open it one step and you see the inside sentiment. There are more feathers stamped in Midnight Muse behind the gold "hello".

And this is the card open all the way. I this that I will probably always make an extended flip-flop so there is somewhere to actually write in the card! But these Thinlit dies for the flip-flop cards are so worth the money. They make these cards so quick and easy to make.

Harvest Thanks

Phew! I made it through another five shift stretch at work. Did you know it was a full moon this weekend? I figured it out after work started... Yes, the full moon brings out the crazy in people!
And now I am thankful to have an unexpected eight whole nights off!

I am also thankful for inspiration from one of the many sketch challenges out there :) This is from CASe this Sketch

 I went a little crazy with the woodgrain, but I still like it :) The Smoky Slate panel is stamped with Silver Encore ink, as is the Thanks on the sentiment. Love that stuff!!

I am also thankful that my yard does not look like this yet. And that when it does, these two young men bring in the wood for the wood stove after it has been delivered :) We will be ordering wood tomorrow. It has been snowing every day for a week, but thankfully it has all melted quickly. Except for the stuff on top of the shed... but it will be staying soon, and we have already started burning wood. I am savoring the last few days of fall here.

File Folder Buck

This is a card I made for a swap, and I love it. All that woodgrain just calls out to the carpentry in my blood :) I followed my dad around from the time I could walk. Dad still tells stories of how he would be working on the roof of the house, or up in the rafters of the garage and he would turn around and find my 2 year-old self standing there. I would apparently climb the ladder quietly to hang out with dad :) Sure gave him a heart attack though! Is it a bit ironic that I am not really a fan of heights now? I can climb a fire tower and stuff, but I am not big on climbing ladders onto roofs anymore... It's not so much going up, it is getting my chubby butt back onto the ladder to go down that is the scary part for me! Ladders should be solidly attached, and have handrails, haha!
OK, enough about that and on with the card!

I guess I have been a little too into orange this month, looking back.... But it is such a great fall color! Leaves, and pumpkins, and blaze orange, and candy corn. Oh, ya. Orange is good in October :) Again on this card, you can see the Versamark left a woodgrain image on the gold embossed buck image, which I love!!! It was totally an accident, I was just adding woodgrain to the panel after embossing :)

This is the grapevine growing like mad up the side of our upper deck. It turns a lovely red in the fall.
