Green Tea

Who loves a great cup of tea? Well, I certainly do! I have a shelf and a drawer in my kitchen dedicated to tea and tea paraphernalia as I am such a tea snob! I have had to unpack my carry-on at security because of the "containers of organic matter that could a bomb" in my bag :) Now, I warn the screener right off the bat that I have loose leaf tea and tea bags in my bag, lol! My purse smells like my favorite tea because I always have an emergency supply tucked in there, and I carry several varieties in my go-bag for work. Tea makes me happy. Everyone wants me happy, so just give me my damn tea!  ;)

I wrote this post a couple of months ago, saving it for a rainy day. THEN I forgot about it, and this set and the framelits have sold out. Oh the horror!! But I figured if you already have the set, you might like another idea of how to use it :)

And no, I did not fussy cut the cups, this is another die from Dies by Dave. But it cinched the deal for me that I could get this die to cut out the stack of cups too :) The Cups and Kettles framelits work well all on their own, so that was an easy sale for me too, and can be used with coffee sentiments. OK, now for how I made this card!
  1. Cut a 4"x5¼" panel of Crumb Cake, emboss with Brick Wall embossing folder.
  2. Cut a piece of Love Blossoms DSP to 3"x3¾". Adhere to the Crumb Cake panel lightly, then stitch down with sewing machine and thread. Add a white outline with Signo white gel pen to the Crumb Cake half of the panel. Adhere this completed layer to a Thick Whisper White 4¼"x5½" card base.
  3. Take a piece of Whisper White Thick or regular cardstock that is at least 3"x4". Ink up the cups image first with Mint Macaron, then add Cucumber Crush from the second cup dow, then Lost Lagoon only on the last cup. Don't worry about the colors mixing on the stamp or your inkpads, it will be fine since we are going lightest to darkest. Now stamp onto the cardstock. Fussy cut, or die cut with the Dies by Dave die. Add dimensionals all over the back, and set aside.
  4. Take a little scrap of watercolor paper, at least 2" square, use Aqua-painter to paint an ombre of the Mint Macaron, Cucumber Crush, and Lost Lagoon. After it is dry, stamp the tea tag in Archival Basic Black. You really could stamp first and watercolor second, but this way you can pick the best spot of watercoloring. Now die cut the little tag. Take a 3" piece of gold thread and a dimensional and adhere to the back of the tag.
  5. Stick the other end of the gold thread under the top edge of the stack of cups and adhere this all to the card front.
  6. Use a blender pen and Mint Macaron, Cucumber Crush, and Lost Lagoon ink to add color to a few random hearts on the DSP.
  7. Ink up the heart shaped steam image the same way we did the stack of cups and stamp in the lower right corner of the inside of the card.

Isn't this an adorable little heart?! I can't wait to come up with some more fun ideas with it :) By keeping this design element tucked in the corner, it leaves plenty of room to add a sweet note to the recipient, but still keeps the inside interesting and tied to the design of the card front.

You can see the Brick Wall embossing a bit better on this shot. I can see that I will be using this embossing folder a lot, for a long time! And I think these greens and blue make a surprisingly pleasing color combo. Very refreshing. I have had a little trouble using the Cucumber Crush, but I am finally getting used to it and liking it very much! I will be sad to see Lost Lagoon go away this spring with the new catalog. If you feel the same way I do, now is the time to stock up on the paper and reinkers! Supplies run out early once the retiring lists go up in May.

As always, if you have seen something you need for your crafting life, just click the image in the supply list below and it will take you to my store! If you order less than $150, please use this month's Host Code, which can be found at the top of the sidebar on the right.

Matcha green tea is better than ordinary tea because of its high quality and has a wonderful great taste. Not this much, it is highly recommended to have organic matcha green tea powder for good health.
