Halloween Tree

Halloween is such a  fun holiday! I have to say the older I get the more stuff I like to do for it. Maybe because I am only working one real job and one play job, not going to school anymore, and 3 of my 4 kids are adults now! (The play job would be Stampin Up! lol) I decided to make a spooky little tree for a centerpiece on the kitchen table.

I originally was making these medallions to leave at our favorite yards, kind of a little award for the best Halloween decorations. This was an idea I got from someone else's blog (I can't remember who, I'm sorry! It was a blog I only visited once). This little vampire is from the Fang-tastic set and was really easy to color. I used my blender pen and inkpads. For the vest I just followed the lines and it really turned out cute with minimal effort and expertise :-) The bat is double layered and I added some bling with the Black Jewels. I REALLY love those things. I only bought them to add to my Halloween Accessories kits, but I have found so many uses for them, I want them to stay forever! The bats are also in my Halloween Accessories kits-Basic Black card stock spirtzed with Silver Foil Smooch Spritz, then punched out with the Bitty Bat punch.

And the little witchy-poo. Isn't she cute!  I really like how the Rhinestone Basic Jewels spice these up.

The ghosts are the body of the owl from the 2-Step Owl punch. I sponged the edges with Sahara Sand and the eyes are more Black Jewels. I used another almond can as the base. The paper is from the hostess DSP paper pack, Concord Crush and Pear Pizzazz with the edges sponged with the coordinating ink. There are 3 bats and 3 ghosts adhered to the can with Stampin Dimensionals. I also used some Raven Lace Trim to give the "tree" trunk a little more interest.

The tree is held in the can with crumpled up pieces of the brown packing paper that comes in all of our shipments from Stampin Up. If you need some, contact your demo. I bet she has some you can have ;) You could put some of that Spanish Moss stuff in the can to cover it, especially if you end up using newspaper instead of the brown packing paper.

I made the tree by gathering sticks from the yard and hot gluing them together. I adhered a bunch of bats to the branches in strategic spots to keep the ghosts and medallions from sliding too far down the branches.
  • Stamps: Rang-tastic
  • Paper: Concord Crush, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, Naturals white, Basic Black, Hostess level 1  In-Color DSP paper pack
  • Ink: Concord Crush, Pear Pizzazz, Pumpkin Pie, Peach Parfait, Basic Gray, Sahara Sand, Blush Blossom, Stazon Jet Black
  • Other: 2-1/2" Circle punch, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle punch, 1-3/4" Circle punch, Bitty Bat punch, 2-Step Owl punch, 1/16" punch,  Black Flourish Jewels, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Stampin Dimensionals, Blender pen, Sponge, Silver Foil Smooch Spritz, Sticky Strip, Raven Lace Trim, hot glue gun with high temp glue sticks, Blue Diamond almond can, twigs from yard, brown packing paper or newspaper, crochet thread
You can still get a Halloween Accessories kit in time to make some fun Halloween stuff!

I love this! Always wanted to do a branch-type tree for really any occasion, but it just hasn't happened yet! The base always perplexed me, but packing paper? -- genius! Love all your details on here!

Wow! This is adorable! I'm so glad you visited my blog or I would never have seen yours. I did some digging on the plumber stamp you had asked about. (I don't own it, I used it when stamping in a group of girls). I found it over at Hambo stamps. Here's the link... http://www.hambostamps.com/people.htm

They have some really funny stamps over there. I own several of them.
Thanks for your kind words about my card. Your blog is beautiful. Have a great day, Renee'
